Poems as told by the broken-hearted smiling person. Just because someone smiles and wants to bring the world joy doesn't mean they don't know pain. They may know it all too well...

TRIGGER WARNING: rape, molestation, homelessness, sexual content

Smile Envy is a deeply personal and heartfelt collection of poetry that takes the reader on a journey through the highs and lows of life. As the author, I wanted to share my story and help others in the process. We all have a smile that we put on when we're out in the world, but sometimes that smile can be deceiving. We all have struggles and pains that we keep hidden, and Smile Envy is about bringing those hidden feelings to light.

The poems in this collection touch on a variety of themes, from high-functioning depression to teenage motherhood to the complexities of love and relationships. I write about the challenges I faced, including the judgment and shame that came with being a victim of abuse. I also explore my own struggles with mental health and how I learned to cope with the highs and lows of life.

One of the central themes of Smile Envy is the idea that just because someone smiles and seems to have it all together doesn't mean they aren't hurting inside. I share my own experiences with masking my pain and how it affected my life, and I hope that my words will inspire others to open up and share their own struggles.

The tone of the book is introspective and raw, with moments of romance and hope amidst the pain. I also explore the idea of forbidden love, including a relationship with an ex-partner and the complicated emotions that come with it. Throughout it all, I share my journey of healing and growth, and how I learned to move forward in spite of my pain.

Overall, Smile Envy is a powerful and moving collection of poetry that speaks to the complexities of life and the struggles we all face. It's a reminder that we're not alone in our pain, and that there is hope and healing to be found in sharing our stories and supporting each other.

A Good Read!!

The Content is heavy and addictive. I had to reread several pages to savour the words and feelings connected with this experience. I am so glad that I bought this book. You get to view your own life through the eyes of the author's experience. On the next book that I purchase from Vastia, I would love for her to sign my copy.
